20101013

(this is a copy of what was published on another blogs on the date given above as my home internet connection was NOT working in those days and is  a repetition for completion's sake)

yesterday that is 20101012 i tried logging on to the net from my home adsl connection from the bsnl ekm. i was not being allowed. - i had gone to trivandrum on the morning of 20101011 on the look out for land and had reached back home after midnight and had not tried accessing the net since friday or so and i would not know exactly when the problem cropped up.

checked up from the broadband help  ( this time luckily some one came on line ) and he said there is no problem at their end and even offered to get a complaint registered with the exchange but i requested him not to - there is no point.

suspended animation!
i had collected some telephone numbers of people interested in selling land from the trivandrum edition of the local newspapers and had started ringing them up later in the day on 20101012. and some time in the evening i found that the telephone had gone dead. not exactly dead - it was in suspended animation. there is no dial tone but if you ring up from an outside telephone you can hear the ringing.

how do i know ?
well i tried from my usb modem from reliance and i could hear the ring loud and clear but thte telephone instrument of the called telephone was not ringing. again there is no point lodging a complaint. so i let it at it.

later on today that is 20101013 i tried again in the morning and the telephone has started working - on its own without any repairs or even a complaint from the user.

and the internet ?
well; it was giving the same response - the compuer you are dialing is not responding  even today.
So i tried a trick. reset the adsl modem and re-configured it  and tried again.
this time the response was different - the user name or password was not correct and it was being rejected. i can assure you with one hundred percent certainty ( there is nothing more than one hundred per cent) that the user name and password were right.

and very soon the response reverted back to the original no.678 - the computer you have dialed is not responding.

this time again i could get on to some one from the broadband help line and i told them what is going on. the lady very kindly offered to reset my password. and again said they could get a complaint registerd with the exchange. i politely refused both offers.

where is the point making complaints to the very same people who are at the root of all the problems?

and luckily for me it is not the life support system that is being shut off and is just my access to the interenet.

right now i am sitting in an internet kiosk by reliance and am typing this in directly on to a new blog. and till now everything has been going fine and i think i would be able to get it on to the net and even create a link to this from one of my original pages - i dont want to open my other google account from over here for obvious reasons.

well; i indeed tried initially to create a new blogger account exclusively for use from outside my home but the problem is that now a days if you dont have a cell phone, for all practical purposes, you do not exist. and every thing went well till for the verification they asked for a cell phone number and i gave the number of my reliance modem but i was in no position to verify the code sent to the cell phone immediately and had to teminate the new account creation and go back to one of my own additional mail addresse you see here.

in a way it all indicates that my efforts are succeeding; i have been teasing  and taunting my friends in many, many ways. one was to make a call to my home land line telephone from my reliance modem and "compliment" my "friends and well wishers" to my heart's content. the result is that the voice plug in of my usb modem has been tampered with the sound is being scrambled and instead of all those punjabi and english epithets coming out from the speakere of the land line phone all that is coming out is just noise only.

well; i have been resorting to e-mail messages after this and i am afraid it has hit the "intelligentsia" in a very tender spot. great - the situation now is "purayute chuttum mandi natannu!"

now what are you going to do about my accessing the net from an outside kiosk, "friend/relative" ?

see ya

PPS (post publishing script) :- the net connection was later on restored -that was after few days of stand off. in the mean time i had got my wireless net connection from reliance recharged and i already had the net account with reliance internet cafes a few days earlier anticipating this sort of an eventuality and i was using that kiosk connection to make the blog away from home on which the matter you see above came online first

i requested the broad band help ( who are available on the phone now a days for a change - thank goodnes ) to check up whether the net was functioning from their end and gave them the password and i was asked to try to log in after three minutes. later on i was told they had reset the password. i can assure you the password i was using was the right one.

it is alright - after all they have to produce a "reason" for me being not able to log on
