my cooking gas connection

and

the peppatti branch

The photographs you see above were taken while I was in ernakulam.
i have a cooking gas connection from the indian oil corporation from 1996 onwards
( in those days gas connection was in big demand and i got my connection from the special quota for registered medical practitioners and so my name used to appear as dr. cheriyath jyothi in the records with the company. it has been changed to mr. so and so recently - orders from the secert police.)

by the way my internet connection has been cut off just now and i am typing this in offline and am going to try to connect again once i finish

the first time i had any problem with the cooking gas was while i was in ernakulam - a hole was drilled into the cap as seen in the pictures above. i had difficult time getting the cylinder replaced and all.

this sort of damage to a cooking gas cylinder cannot be accidental and is a deliberate act. only one group of people can dare afford to do it without impunity – the peppatti branch.

for over a decade  i had been cooking myself using gas stove in thiruvananthapuram and i had never faced any problem all those years . but back here in thiruvananthapuram from ernakulam dt. my gas connection has  started giving trouble even here.

the fact of the matter could be  that there is a big presence of the gas companies in kochi and so the peppttees in ernakulam are  better trained in  tampering with gas cylinders, that is unlike their counterparts in thiruvananthapuram. now that the peppatti branch in thiruvananthpuram came to know of the techniques from their brothren in ernakulam the peppatti branch here have started practising their tricks on my gas cylinders.

I got my a third cylinder after my arrival here last month. this time there was a problem with the delivery and I tried to contact the indian oil corporation's field officer  here on the matter, but to no avail. he does not have an office in thiruvananthapuram  and all that is available is his cell phone number and my calls were not being attended at all - i was not at all surprised.

I tried the indian oils customer service at cochin on the phone and I could get through ( probably the peppatti branch had not taken into account this aspect ) and  the cylinder was delivered to me the next day.

but all was not well with this cylinder and i asked the gas agency's service personal  over who found that the cylinder was leaking.
when  I talked on the phone to the gas agency here and asked for a replacement, i over heard a suggestion being mooted that a second person should check the cylinder again for leakage. I pointed out to the agaency that it was their own person who had examined the cylinder and found the leakage and they agreed to replace it. could be that the peppatti branch was unhappy that I am getting the cylinder replaced and wanted their man to do the inspection and declare that there is no need to replace the cylinder.

till the cylinder was changed I had closed down the gas stove and was using my nutan kerosene oil stove to do the minimum essential cooking – that was in a way good for the k. oil stove had gathered rust and it was a good thing it was put to use again. I do have viable alternatives  as well, like my microwave, an electric stove over and above the k. oil stove; but even with all the price hike gas is always cheaper and doing the heavy cooking on electricity  is a very costly affair.

I got the new cylinder but later found that there was a huge sound coming on opening the regulator. I got scared and called the gas agency's man.

this fellow is a nice chap and even though it was a sunday he very promptly came and checked it up and agreed that there is a leak, this time due to a problem with the washer of the cylinder and replaced the washer.

that was last week and things have been working fine since then.

11:20:28 AM GMT :the mains power over here in my house has been switched off and i am on batteries.
let me see what happens when i try to up load this.
