MORE ON THE ERNAKULAM TELECOM
"services"

there is a facility for getting the meter reading of one's telephone over here. the earlier number was 1501 and if i dial from my telephone there is no further progress. i had reported the matter a couple of days back to the call center and from today on rather than being stalled i as being informed that the number has changed - 1962.

now once i dial that number i mean 1962 i am asked to choose the language and once i choose the language it gets stuck there. why?

i have no training in information technology but i am putting down my hypothesis below:

here is a modified version of that movie on my not being allowed to access the net and all the concerned telephone numbers that are supposed to help you out of such a situation becoming "temporarily out of service" at that very moment!

by the way the lan card of my puter is extremely labile - many a time it is corrupted and becomes non functional and it could even completely disappear and if i try to install the driver manually i will be made to run around in circles. so ultimately i have switched over almost permanently to the usb mode of the modem which creates a virtual sort of lan and it looks it is more stable though the speed of the connection is supposed to be better with the LAN card. and i am at the moment able to log on kind courtesy the usb.

if the gestapi, or her pimp, for that matter, decides that in the interests of the nation for "security reasons" i should not be allowed to access the net there is nothing any body can do about it, leave alone me who is a nobody doing anything.

but i am a cantankerous character and would try to create confusion by trying to telephone and pester all sorts of people. so rather than make a hue and cry about it simply do not allow me to access of any of these numbers and that is how all the numbers that i dial then becomes "temporarily out of order". producing such a standardized response to all attempts i make is child's play it is a simple thing and can be easily manipulated. same is the case with the call blocking facility.

but when it comes to the meter reading it is an all together different kettle of fish. it is a dynamic thing; what it means is that one standard set of words as in the response "temporarily out of order" will not do.

the meter reading changes repeatedly and the response comes from the system direct. there will be obvious evidence of tampering and the gestapi or the pimp will not be able to cover the trail in case some other nut case ( syn. jyothi ) decides to investigate.

so rather than that just deny the facility and in case the mandabudhi complains the dr. sujathans (real patriots they will do anything for the country and it is not that he gets a dilapidated old police jeep to roam around.) are always there to "doubt the mental status of the subject". are you getting the point?

now coming back to the funny numbers appearing on my telephone's caller id. here is a movie a newer modified version showing what goes on.

when the call from that 14 digit number came in i was near the phone and lifted it up and i could hear clearly the conversation between two females in malayalam. ( earlier i had registered a complaint in the automatic complaint booking system and when the official from the exchange telephoned me and asked me " is there any cross talk now?" i agreed it was not there. so i was on the look out and wanted to record the conversation and send it to them and so )i made an effort to record the conversation but but it was not working out - my current voice recorder is not that smart.

another person whom i called back earlier was easier to deal with than the voice in the movie and he said he had telephoned a neighbour. you see this sort of a thing is not normal and there is a fault which obviously is within the system and it has to be set right under normal circumstance especially with the adsl connection and all existing. but nothing is being done.

that way all sorts of funny things happen over here - even if you block all the outgoing calls the toll free numbers like 197 and 1500 are all available but over here on my telephone nothing works

it could all be a side effect of the tampering! but what can people do?

the long and short of it is that the primary function of all the communication systems in this country is to "facilitate" the charans; rest every thing is secondary or is it tertiary? if you complain the impotent rage will be directed at you and i am afraid that is what is happening over here at present.

incidentally, today, for once, actually twice to be more precise, i could get a response from 12678 the help number of the broad band of the bsnl over here; great!

HOOKA, PAANI BAND

MY BROAD

NOT IN THE MOOD

THE USUAL

Today it is the usual story again – my broad is not in the mood and is not obliging. The adsl link is working but I am not allowed to connect. I tried all the telephone numbers of the NIB in ernakulam and as usual all are temporarily out of order except the call center who said a complaint will be registered. That was in the morning and it is already past 1900 hrs over here and nothing happened.

By the way there is an automatic fault booking for broad band but that is also not available.

At very critical times in my life muscle men get paraded in front of me ( i am reminded of that loony in russia with love who comes into his elements with the full moon ) by way of trying to scare the shit out of me. It happened way back in mid two thousand naughties and I have the pictures of some of these characters – these are the gorillas who will be let loose on you once the gestapi takes you in their custody and will make you tell them “all”. and it is happening now, the latest being an "ooont" that is twelve month's pregnant! sorry poor spy (my STEPSON!); it wont affect me in any way.

"expect the best and prepare for the worst" those were the words of a neurosurgeon in the seventies in an all together different context; but i follow that principle in my life as well.

Incidentally I have described one of the members of a related fraternity as aramuri puttu in public and so all the pimps who circumnavigate me now a days are the tallest available. but physical strength is not the real criterion (for these characters deal with people who are tied up or otherwise immobilised and there is no fear of retaliation ). but the willingness to do any brutal thing to a human being for money - the arachars that is; in real life the moment they see blood they will panic - they simply cant take casualties!

By the way, did you notice a chap in black safari siut eying that ex-gujarath minister who was being hushed away into custody in the news paper photographs recently ?

TRYING TO BUY
an extra battery pack for jyoPda

i had purchased a netbook some time in 2008, the cheapest available in the market those days and over and above that the sbi that time was giving a reduction of 1000INR as I purchased it with their debit card. I found it very convenient, very handy and rather cheap with win xp preloaded – it was the first few based on the atom processor and things have become cheaper now a days There was one by assus a better model by all means but that was 5000INR costlier and to a poor man like me that is a big sum. So even though I would have preferred the asus one I purchased one by another company.

The main snag over here is the battery support a very critical aspect of any portable machine whatever the nomenclature and with the three cell battery pack that comes with the model it comes in practice to about one hour only. There is a six cell extra battery pack available claimed to last six hours by the company; but that costs 4000 INR again a big sum for me. But recently what with my money being pocketed by all and sundry on one pretext or other during the last three months I have spent three thousand on “repairing” my motorbike and I got stuck more than twice in the middle of the road the last time I went to ernakulam. I have done almost one lakh kilometers on my bike but never faced this sort of a dilemma. Could it be possible that the problem now is due to my bad driving after all these years as is being claimed by the “engineers” here? I thought I may as well go for one, I mean an extra six cell battery pack.

Again I did not want to take a risk buying a cheap substitute and so decided to go for an original. The battery pack is supplied by the service agents and is not available with the dealers. I had been to the local service agents to get the keyboard replaced. and I requested them to supply me a six cell battery. The request was made on july 22. they said they will have to get it from bangalore and I may have to wait two three days for it. I had asked them if they would want an advance payment they said not needed.

In the beginning of the next week I telephoned them and they said they are going to place the order immediately – they had not yet done it. And I had been telephoning the company repeatedly to get the latest on the battery - Now that I have decided to spend the money I thought the earlier I could get it the better. But I am afraid others did not think so!

At the end of that week when I called up one of their staff told me that he has already got the docket number of the parcel and I will be getting the battery in a couple of days or so. It was coming by courier; And you cannot get a docket number unless the thing has already been handed over to the courier company. A parcel from bangalore to ernakulam could not have taken more than a couple of days and it could reach on the next day itself. But in the beginning of the next week I again telephoned them and they said it has not yet arrived.

So on third august I telephoned the parent company ( that markets the netbook)'s office in ernakulam and talked to a gentleman there. He made enquiries at the service agents and rang me back to tell me that it will be delivered on friday. The service company people also telephoned me later and told me that they expect the parcel to arrive on friday and will give me a call on that day.

But even on friday there was no news from the service agents and so I again went back to the parent company to find out if the battery pack is available anywhere else – they had no idea. Also I checked up the address of the company in bangalore and was wondering about trying sending a fax ( I have not been able to send a fax message from my telephone over here to any other number till date. Once I tried and after dialing and trying to connect the machine got stuck.) I again telephoned the parent company talked to another staff member to find out about their office hours and whether they work on saturdays and such. this person took an interest in things ( in spite of my telling her that I am finished with their local service agents) and telephoned them and got back to me to tell me that I can collect the battery pack that day itself.

One of the staff of the service agents also later on telephoned to tell me that they have tried to contact me on the phone earlier and there was no reply and that was why the information did not reach me - possible but not probable. For one thing initially when I was gettting the kb changed we had telephonic conversations and I never missed any of their calls. And on that friday I was at home all through except for a 45 minute's outing in the after noon. In deed I had a tussle with some one who rang me up but wouldnt identify himself.

It was late by then and so on saturday I went by bus to ernakulam and collected the battery. I was initially given a bill for 4500 but when I pointed out they had initially told me on july 22 that the price was around 4200 they readily obliged and made another bill – that was very kind of them; they could have insisted on the 4500!

I then asked for a cover for the battery – I was wondering if I could get hold of the packet in which it was couriered for I was keen on knowing when exactly the thing was couriered and when it reached the service agents here. Well they did not give me that and gave me a plastic bubble bag instead.

All the same there is a sticker with the name of the service agents here on the battery and the date 3.8.10 written in ink. The invoice number has not been filled in. well it could be that the multinational company in bangalore puts a sticker of the service agents in ernakulam before they despatch the goods.

From 06_casual

Please do not by any stretch of your imagination think that I mean to say that the packet had reached them earlier and they have taken it in their stock on third of august. For in that case they would have immediately let me know and handed over the thing to me and collected the money! Why should they wait till friday to get a call from the parent company's office to deliver it?

PURCHASING
the cheapest water purifier possible

In this place where I am putting up now a days there is no tap water supply and people mostly depend on wells for drinking water. I dont relish the well water and so have been spending a lot on bottled water there is no public taps near by to collect water from as I used to do in chempazhanthi. So I decided to buy a water purifier and there was an ad in the papers that one is available for rs.1000/- . I talked to the company's sales officer and he told me where it is available and I went all the way to ernakulam broad way and asked them. The shop keeper said they don't have any. I was a bit annoyed and telephoned and told the sales officer so. he reassured me and told me that he has one with him and he will send it across to me in the same shop.

I went back and lo and behold this time the thing was available in abundance; not just one, but more if you please.

Then why did the shop keeper tell me that it was not available when I first asked them ?

The excuse was that they thought I was asking for a germ killer kit ( I can assure you that I never mentioned the so called germ killer kit for I came across the name later on once I read the manual. Then ) how come?

The basic crux of the thing is that I am an imbecile “budhi illa” and so I am not capable of conveying to the "intelligent" ( intelligent as in IB; you know what ? apna voh! where friend balram is working now a days ) shopkeeper that it is a pureIT water purifier that I wanted and not something else! Are you getting the point?

One thing about pureIT is that I really appreciate their after sales service. I had some doubts about the machine that i ultimately got. I was wondering how could it be that the purifier is able to deal with two liters of water in just ten minutes! It is ultimately chlorine that they are using in the form of ( ? ) chlorine chalks. And some one told me it was “activated chlorine”. I never heard of activated chlorine and I checked up wiki – there is no information on that there. I had reservations about asking their personal from ernakulam over here in this godforsaken place but all the same they came and did their job without any grumbling whatsoever.

20100809_2100gmt: my broad started working in the evening. but at 30 minutes past midnight the broad closed off again. my computer rebooted on its own and i was no more being allowed to log in. i loaded an action movie put it on repeat and went to the kitchen to cook my dinner. came back and tried to log on from my pda and it is working and i am there now.

could be it will work on the desktop as well but i dont think i will try today for i have got a lot of pending office work to do that i had been postponing all these days and i will finish that first and then only will go to sleep.

by the way i found out a new site on the net a couple of days back - youporn. very interesting stuff in deed and i downloaded a few movies but it is not playing except when connected to the net. it is all .flv files. i can try again later.

I was out yesterday evening – went on a drive to ernakulam just for the heck of it. After 400INR on provisions from 9/10 and 2.5 litres of gas, when I reached back past 2100hrs there were seven calls recorded on my cid.

I later on found out that most of the calls had arrived when I was very much at home and was sitting very close to the telephone. But there were no rings on the phone and i never knew about them ! Interestingly the LED of my caller id instrument has stopped functioning a few days back. So if the ring is not there there is no way I can make out that a call is coming even when I am sitting close to the machine.

Could be the telephone instrument had got disconnected from the line ( I have a simple caller id instrument without a telephone attached). So I ensured that the phone was properly connected. but in spite of that it again happened today – and here is that silent number.

From jyothi valayil

At the time the incoming call got recorded I was within a couple of feet from the telephone but i never knew about it. The telephone otherwise is ringing for I have checked it from my reliance modem phone. So I can say with one hundred percent certainty that the ringer has been silenced at least this time and most certainly during the arrival of the other calls yesterday – 'SECURITY” reasons!

If you think this sort of things like neutralising the caller ID, silencing the ring ( are you aware that if you dial a functioning line, you will hear the ring even when there is no hand set at the other end? ), telephone refusing to proceed further after I have keyed in the number?( do you think all the telephones of the nib were temporarily out of order when I dialed them on 27 july ?) can be done by a rogue element making a parallel connection to my telephone line you are sadly mistaken.

The telecom people have been making all sorts of right noises after I registered a complaint online thanks to my reliance high speed wireless internet ( I had spent almost 1700 on that connection but this one event made it worthwhile leave alone stopping the hearing at SIC - it was a real boon). What is the big idea ? I am really amused; the whole tampering is going on from within their system.
