SITREP_20100405

SITREP 20100405

20100405 : it is evening time over here now – past 1630 .

I got up rather early - by 0700 hrs - and during the morning hours was pleasuring myself. you do not have any thing else to do other than all those terribly boring household chores and so ultimately one finds solace playing with your basal instincts and forgetting everything else .

Had a nap later ( in fact I had an idea that I do my pg thesis on the connection between orgasm and sleep ! )

Later in the day I was going through an old issue of time magazine – oh, no; I cannot afford to purchase it. this was one of the two old issues I had taken on loan from the public library.

Yes, I had been to the public library on saturday after a long interval. In fact my days are falling into a somewhat regular routine after the disruption that happened after I fractured my heel bone. But it is not going to last - there is a catch.

I have to move house – the rental ends by mid june and I will have to shift before that . ( And in fact I had been to the library to look up the newspapers, for free rather than purchase the papers, for houses for rental advertisements. There were none this time - better luck next time - and I ended up picking up the old magazines )

It is a real ordeal finding a house and then packing up things and then shifting and then unpacking and then getting settled – some body had done a study and concluded that shifting house is the third most taxing event in ones life. And when that happens to a jyothi who has to do all the things on his own just imagine how much taxing it is going to be! But I think I have become a connossier at it, what with shifting house, not every year but, more than once every year; lucky me!

INTERLUDE

As I was typing in this stuff - it must have been at 1745 IST or so, now it is almost 1800 hrs IST - the power supply failed. I had removed the battery of my pda and so it conked off. Within no time the power supply came on and when I switched on the machine I gave the bios password but did NOT have to log on to the winxp - though mine is a password protected administrator account. It had opened up on its own in as is where is condition, that is exactly as it was when the power supply failed.

But there was a small problem - whatever I had typed in for the previous half an hour ( I was on the dementia issue which appears later on in this write up ) had disappeared. I am a cantankerous character and am going to type in the stuff again as it was.

now please read on

on saturday I was running errands and made some purchases and the expense came to more than 1500 INR.

i got my air gun back after repair and it is working fine now and the pBirds are going to have a difficult time from now on.

I got my deckchair repaired and purchased a foot mat for my lily from a furnishing shop and, typical of this part of the world, the repair part as it involves manual labour was far more costlier than the purchase part ; brought half a dozen whiskey glasses ( it is simple glass tumblers by yera, large and capacious and comes rather cheap and i like them. they are not available always and that is why i purchased six, to build up a reserve stock - and you can use it not only for whiskey but for other drinks as well, say for example drinking tea ! ); a lemon squasher for my staple “food” now a days is lime soda ( thanks to my home sodamaker ) with lots and lots ( and more ) of sugar, what with the hot sun and all.

DEMENTIA

incidentally that day, i mean on last saturday, I had another attack of dementia.

While in the furnishing shop I was holding two bunches of keys along with a plastic envelope containing some currency notes in my left hand. Once I went back to the car and wanted to drive the vehicle I found the bunch with the car key missing - the other bunch of keys and the envelope were still there in that very hand.

Immediately I went back to the shop and without my asking one of the staff gave me the key back!

I was lucky this time for my car key did not have the same fate as my car's remote control which just disappeared into thin air in an identical situation while I was getting my motor cycle battery back a couple of weeks back – lucky me. ( I am sure the gestapi's daughter must be frigging her clit with that remote )

THE LESSON LEARNT

“ kuninhu nokkikondirikkukondirunnillengil . . . . . ”

the situation I am facing now is one that demands that I keep on looking downwards for otherwise part of my anatomy in the nether regions might disappear into thin air ( it is a dual purpose thing and though at a pinch I can do away with one of the purposes the other is a must and I cannot afford to loose it).

so I will do that, i mean, looking downwards, keeping a watch, ensuring that that thing is not pinched.

Also I will have to carry a shoulder bag all through and must keep my keys and cards and such thing in the bag and not in my hand or pocket. And that I am sure will put an end to this acute attack of dementia.

even otherwise the bout of dementia is seasonal to be reproduced as and when required - the gestapi cannot afford to keep the pressure for long.

20100402

20100402: at home the whole day – idling. I am starting to settle down after the fracture and am almost back to my normal ways. The leg hurts a bit and swells up once in a while that is after I keep it dependant for some time ( the right foot with the edema then looks real smart compared to the twin which is all skin and bone) but I am getting used to it and have started taking it in the stride. Even the skin in the area of the blisters that I had developed on my palms, thanks to the crutches, is peeling off.

I had fixed up the rear light and the indicator lights of the bike and made it spick and span – well not exactly for it needs a bath very badly and I will have to get a new tyre as well.

I made two long distance calls today and you know what that is one way you can convey what you want to not only to the person you are talking to but to the gestapi as well.

20100401

20100401: been to the city on the bike –

yes it is working fine without any help whatsoever from any other mechanic than yours faithfully. The handle had bent a little and I had to get it straightened ( my fingers were getting crushed between the handle and the fuel tank ) and that required help.

There is a bit of a problem even then - engaging the gears. The gear leaver is on the right side of my bike and it is my right foot that is injured. To put it in the first gear you shift the lever upwards and I cannot do that with the foot. So initially while starting off I use my hand to put the vehicle in first gear and after that there is not much of a problem for all the other gears, the lever is to be moved downwards and I can easily do it with my foot.

The problem again comes up after stopping for it is a heavy machine and it is difficult to get a move on except in the first gear.

I had to go out today perforce for my stock of milk had been exhausted – I have an emergency supply of lactogen infant formula but that is damn costly - and so tried out srikaryam there was none and so moved off to medical college area and from there to the city milma had not supplied milk anywhere and there was a problem and I ultimately had to be satisfied with the ambadi one.

In the city I had been to the spare parts shop sun where I regularly make my purchases and then took the bit to the mechanic at near pangode to get the handle bar straightened (at all those place I was being followed by the prostitute birds of the indian pimp service and even at statue near the secretariate from where I was getting some idlees packed the pBirds were there – the pimps wont dare to come out into the open but want to announce their presence by the shrieks of the prostitute birds – udara nimitham bahukrita vesham ! )

By the time I reached back I had done thirty kilometers. My usual practice was to use the bike mostly and lily only when I have to transport things. But with the leg in the condition it was in there was no question of using the bike for the last two months and I had to take lily every time I go out.

Befor the injuiry even when I take lily to the city I used to park her at some centre point and walk to the various shops and all - i am a real kanjoose, makhi choose.

But with the injured foot walking even a few feet were extremely taxing and I was using lily to make a move of even a few feet. And she consumes a litre of gas for every ten kilometers. That means I must have spent a fortune on gasoline during the last two months. Well it was worth it for I was still mobile in spite of my broken heel bone and did hardly depend on anybody else for anything !

SITREP_20100330_1848 gmt

last updated 20100401_0711 gmt

Today 20100330 I woke up at 0415 hrs sharp; and that was kind courtesy the telephone's wake up alarm ( incidentally the wake up alarm shows on my caller id as a number of zeeros. There is no telephone at the other end and the call is generated by the system controlling the exchange. You must have seen pictures of the numbers I get on the fax report as the phone number at which the message has been delivered – they are identical and my conclusion is that the number on the fax sent report is also one generated by the system in the very same exchange. That was just by the way ) the phone saved me for I had set the alarm on my organizer as well ( for 0400 hrs ) but that did not wake me up.

I was in the railway station on time – I had a seat reserved the day before. my experience is that if you say that you dont want a seat in a particular compartment of the train, at least in the pattom reservation counter of the railways, invariably they allot you a seat in that very compartment and not the other way round . I hate the SL1 and SL2 in jansatabdi due to the chances of one of them being next to the engine and you are never sure which one is that going to be, the real problem being the diesel smoke which irritates my resp system and the huge noise from the engine. Otherwise the jansatabdi is a very convenient train and is a real fast train by indian standards – the average speed must be around 80kms per hour and you are in ernakulam in three hours.

After my writ petition was dismissed I had managed to get an appeal filed and this was heard by a division bench of two judges. One of them, the acting chief justice, I had never seen earlier. The other judge, mr. Justice CN Ramachandran nair, I remember had avoided a petition filed by me in 2004, as the respondent, the then principal of medical college trivandrum, ( or was it the dme ? ) happened to be KAKumar - a psychiatrist.

this judge was persisting with the contention that the address of the cabinet secretary i had given in the appeal was wrong ( this in spite of the fact that the information received from the cabinet secretary's office which i have produced with the appeal as annexure 1 gives the address as i had given it ) and they cannot send a notice to the rashtrapathi !

i had given my name in the writ petition as well as the appeal as dr. cheriyath jyothi for once and this judge asked me " are you a doctor ?" i sort of avoided a direct answer and said " i have got a degree in medicine". i also elaborated that i had been working in the non-clinical side in physiology.

the next question from the judge was " is it clinical psychology ? "

i replied " no; it is one of the basic sciences".

The judgment on my appeal was pronounced by this judge in the court on the same day.

In fact after the hearing was over I had gone back to a seat in the back row when a young lawyer came and told me that the judgement was being pronounced and I have to stand there till that was over. ( Actually the impression I got was to the contrary - another case had already been called and it wont be right for me to keep on standing there in the front. ) I limped back to the front and remained there till the judge finished the dictation.

That was on 20100309 and I was getting worried that I might have missed out the judgement and my filing a request for an appeal to the supreme court could get time barred and hence the trip to ernakulam today. but as on today it was not ready yet. There was nothing much I could do on the matter and so I came back immediately by a long distance train and reached home early. and it was raining cats and dogs in trivandrum then.

I intend to give a detailed account of the extremely interesting happenings in the kerala high court in connection with the writ petition and the writ appeal at a more oppertune moment – that is after I get a copy of the judgement - i expect it to make interesting reading.

YESTERDAY 20100329: I took out my motor bike after a long lapse of more than a month and it all worked well in the beginning; but after a kilometer the accelerator cable broke and I left it by the side of the road. The prostitute bird started shrieking immediately from the vicinity as if it were climaxing!

I walked back – walking about a kilometer is still an ordeal for me in spite of the strapping and all that I apply – took out my lily and went and purchased ( the rail ticket for today's journey as well as ) a new cable and came back.

I did not have a screw driver and so asked a young girl in a neighbouring house if I could borrow one from her house. The father came out and discussed the intricacies of the type of screw drivers and in deed brought me some which were not fitting. It was then that this highly intelligent young doctor – ( almost all the locals in this place are qualified psychiatrists ), came by and took the man aside to feed the data. So I bade the man good bye and apologized for troubling him and drove back home to pick up the screw drivers and all.

once back to the bike i found that the screws were stuck and I could not loosen them and I was stuck. But I had decided to take the bike home one way or other and instead of putting the upper end of the accelerator cable into the slot, i held it in my hand and with only the pedal brake working ( the hand brake was broken when the bike fell on its side ) and managed to drive the bike back the one kilometer stretch of road to my ( rented ) house. I had taken it as a prestige issue in view of the mirth of the locals on what was going on.

In fact the “emans” and their pimps were thrilled believing that I had crashed my petite lily. The real fact was that where the bike had broken down it was a very steep incline of more than 45 degrees. I had pulled lily to the side of the road and turned the front wheels to the fullest extent bringing it in contact with the wall to prevent lily's brake slipping and she rolling down the incline while I was working on the bike. a couple of young men on their bikes made polite enquiries ( those were rather exceptions ) and i had explained the facts to them

“police case; adi”

Coming back to today 20100330 – there are lot of expectations all around; it looks the gentleman has given the fitness certificate, that I am fit to face third degree. the whole lot of the pimps and the prostitute birds are in the throes of orgasmic excitement for the last few days – Usually the emans give the locals a chance to have a go at you before they take us away for “treatment” by themselves.

So, Come one, Come all;

HURRY!

SITREP_jyothi_20100328

SITREP_20100328_1011 gmt

there was a sort of thunderstorm over here on 25th evening. This place I am afraid is prone to lightning strikes and thunderclaps were going off far and near rather threateningly ( I had a near miss some time in early two thousand noughts some where near this area where I was putting up in those days. I was at my computer sitting on my wooden bed. I felt the shock in the pit of my stomach but no physical damage was done. the computer mouse died of the shock – could it be that the mouse saved me! )

the first thing that happened here as a result of the thunderstorm on 25th evening was that the lights went off – the usual thing - ( I could see the caller id flashing repeatedly with almost every clap of thunder but no damage was done and the phone was found working fine later on. ) and the supply was not restored during the night – the interesting thing is that it is only the line that supplies my house that gets switched off and one hundred meters across I could see the lights on in the other houses.

The power supply was not restored even at 0900 hrs the next day and so I decided to go out to the city to make some purchases and run some errands. I did not bother to telephone the electricity company for there was not much of a point there – they will take their own time whether I telephone or not.

But when in the after noon ( of 26th ) I came back and found that the electric power was not yet restored I started trying the various complaint numbers on the telephone. 155333 the help line of the power supply was "busy" and in spite of repeated efforts i could not get connected; the number of the local electricity section office of the kerala state electricity board (KSEB) at srikaryam 2598591 was giving a funny tone and was again not available.

So I started trying the senior officers. I had a number supposed to be belonging to the divisional engineer KSEB at kazhakoottam 2418236 – when I dialled that number the automatic telephone complaint booking system got activated and I was asked to key in the number of the faulty telephone!

I left it there and started trying all sorts of kseb numbers in trivandrum. One person ( actually not connected with the present problem ) came on line and gave me the cell phone number of the asst engineer over here in srikaryam – the local ae I thought was a lady and so rather than calling her on her cell phone I asked for a land line number of a senior person and I got the number of a senior engineer - 2461147. the lady responded promptly and even rang me back to tell me that the problem is being looked into.

And lo; the power supply was restored – that was within minutes! So where exactly was the problem ? Why were we kept in the dark for 18 hrs? ( by that time it was 1500 hrs on 26 march )

incidentally I did try the cell phone number of the asst. engineer at srikaryam in between. There were two numbers and both were not responding - the reply from one was that the telephone has been switched off and there was some such response from the other number as well. I mentioned this fact to the engineer at 2461147 and she would not believe me for she had talked to the ae on the cell phone only just then !

Later on I talked to the sde at 241xxxx that is kazhakoottam exchange and asked about 2418236 – he said that the number probably had been re-allotted to some body else. But then how could the complaint recording system of the telecom get activated on dialling that number ? He said there is no way it could happen.

See these things are all happening in my case only – no one else has ever had such funny experiences. So what could be the explanation ? !

the answer is very straight forward – I am mad; mad as a hatter !

And I being what I am, it is very much possible that there was no power supply disruption at the above mentioned time and it is all the delusions , illusions and halucinations ( "you doctors" can add some more - i know this many terminologies only ) of a diseased mind.

So please dont tell any body that I have mentioned this to you; let it remain a secret between you and me!

20100327 – last time I made a complaint to the divisional engineer at kazhakoottam about electric power disruption, the power was restored immediately. But the supply was cut off at 2130 that night and was restored only at 0400 the next morning.

Luckily history did not repeat itself on last saturday night and I watched my weekly doze of soap – a – roy in provoked - a so-so movie; she did not provoke me - could be age is telling!

TODAY (that is 20100328 ): I got my enfield bullet going.

Immediately after I broke my heel bone as I was taking my lily out she had hit the bike and the fellow fell on his side. The chap is a heavy weight - 160 kgs ( super heavy?) and with one leg off road I could not lift him up on my own ( and there is no other human being around here whom I would ask for help ) . So the poor fatso was lying on his side for more than a month. Ultimately I could manage to lift him up on my own a week back and put him in the erect position.

the oil level had gone down drastically and the battery had got completely exhausted. I got a ltr of engine oil, got the battery charged and the fellow was revved up some time back today. I have given the bugger a bath and I am going to take him out in a couple of days time. that is going to save me some money for otherwise every trip to the city I am taking lily along and she consumes at least two litres of gas per trip - this fellow can do with less than one.

by the way my heel has started behaving - i have developed a sort of strapping that helps to reuces the pain and with my dms boots ( yes it is still in very good condition) with its ankle support and all i think i can easily ride my bike.

I am trying a new blog _ SITREP. If you dont know the meaning check it up on wiki – I did, to make sure that it is what I thought it was; and there again I was right!
