this is being done in a real hurry. it is 1035 gmt and some time back i tried to log on to my computer. on booting it came up with a new hardware found notice and as expected my LAN card has disappeared. i tried reinstalling but the plug and play device is not being recognized by xp any more and its own drivers are not being accepted. so i tried a trick - added another lan card of identical make and inserted in the another pci slot and started off and leave alone the plug and play part the driver is not being allowed to install manually either. it is very unlikely that both the card are damaged or both the pci slots of my puter are mal functioning.
so rather than fiddle with it anymore i installed the usb part of the modem and luckily it worked and i am on the net -
gotcha, gestapi !
i am told that the usb part is slower than the lan connection but i dont have much of a choice there.
by the way i have been making calls to my reliance modem from my land line and giving the gestapi a piece of my mind -

but that is going to cost money for i am afraid reliance charges for incoming calls as well when you are using this device - the call charges are real high. even then it is worth it. my caller id started flickering immediately and all data was wiped out and the machine was reset to default values with the year 2004 !
usually i prepare what is to be put on the net offline and almost never type it into the blog direct but this time i am doing it for i have to go out and collect my motorbike from the mechanic. now what i did today in making this sitrep is go to my previous sitrep copy it and then start a new page and paste and then type in the stuff. that way the formatting part is made easier. so you might find the old links and all from the previous sitrep repeated over here - please bear with me.
i have spent 2000 INR on repairs of my bike during the last two months and it has been of no use. now i am trying another mechanic and the bill has come to approx 1000. i hope it works and my impression is that the young man knows his job.
i got the electrical part of the bike looked into last week and it is ok now. earlier i got a relay fixed for the head lights of little lily- my headlights now can reach the other side of the hill. by the way, if you have got any electrical work on your automobiles, i strongly recommend you go to azad road opp mathrubhoomi and ask for mr. james.
i have made a movie of what happened on 27 when i dialed the numbers of the nib for help concerning my broad and i have edited it and will put it on the net soon - be on the look out for the first movie of the aluva chapter ( well it is already there click on the link ahead ) ekmtelecom
now i have to rush; go to njaraloore and collect the bike.
